API terms of use

These terms apply to the Kresmion REST API, the MCP server, bulk CSV export, the Python SDK and any other programmatic access we provide. They sit on top of the Kresmion Terms of Service, which continue to apply. Where the two differ on programmatic access, these terms govern.

While your account is in good standing we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to call the API and to use the responses inside your own product, research or workflow. That is the whole of the grant. Nothing here transfers ownership of the data or of anything we compute from it.

Some of what we serve is licensed to us on terms we have to pass on. These bind you directly:

• FINRA short interest. FINRA owns this data. Any display of it, or of a figure derived from it, must carry Source: FINRA. Short interest data owned by FINRA. You must not use it to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model, and you must not price or sell the FINRA data itself.
• Other sources. Individual endpoints may name a source and a condition in their response or documentation. Where they do, that condition applies to you as if written here.

If you display our data publicly, attribute it to Kresmion and keep any source note we return with the figure. Source notes are part of the data, not decoration: they are how a reader can check a number, and in several cases they are a licence condition rather than a courtesy.

Quotas and per-minute limits are published on the developers page and returned in the X-RateLimit response headers. Exceeding a limit returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header, which you should honour. We may change limits, and we will say so on the developers page when we do.

API keys cannot write, delete or move anything. Unsafe HTTP methods are refused on the API-key path. This is enforced in code rather than promised in text, and it is deliberate: a leaked key should not be able to destroy your work.

We report what our sources report, with the source and an as-of timestamp attached. Sources are late, revise, and sometimes fail. Every response carries an as_of field and you should check it before acting on a number. The API is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows.

Kresmion describes what happened and its context. It does not recommend trades and does not take your circumstances into account. Nothing the API returns is investment advice, and building something that presents it as advice is your responsibility and your regulatory problem, not ours.

We may suspend a key immediately if it is being used in a way that breaks these terms, threatens the service, or puts one of our upstream licences at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.

We will post changes here with a new date. Material changes that reduce what you are allowed to do will be announced by email to account holders with API access before they take effect.
