Relative value
Compare a company with the rest of its GICS sub-industry on growth, margins, balance sheet, cash and valuation. Every figure is one full fiscal year read from one annual SEC filing, named by accession.
Open a company
- NVDA Nvidia against semiconductors
- JPM JPMorgan against diversified banks
- LLY Eli Lilly against pharmaceuticals
- XOM Exxon Mobil against integrated oil and gas
- SAP SAP, a euro reporter, against application software
- MSFT Microsoft against systems software
Any tracked ticker works: /tools/relative-value/<TICKER>. In the command palette, type RV followed by a ticker.
How the comparison is kept honest
- Every figure for one company comes from ONE annual filing, so a ratio's two inputs always share a period and a currency.
- Nothing is trailing twelve months. A 10-Q figure is year to date rather than the quarter and Q4 is not a reported fact, so neither is used.
- Nothing is converted between currencies. A peer reporting in EUR or JPY still compares on margins and returns, and is refused from a revenue or a market cap.
- No median, quartile or percentile is published under five peers, and the n is printed beside every one.
- A blank cell always carries its reason. It is never a zero.
