Treasury auction tracker
How this is computed
The 7-year note auction on 2026-10-29 stopped at a high yield of 4.894% with a bid-to-cover of 2.46, the 31st percentile of the 61 prior 7-Year Note auctions since 2021-10-29. On 2026-09-30, 33.4% of the $31.83T of unmatured marketable Treasury debt matured within twelve months.
Kresmion ranks each auction's bid-to-cover, its indirect, direct and primary-dealer shares of the competitive award, and its high-minus-median rate spread against the earlier auctions of the same tenor over the prior five years (refused under eight), and buckets every unmatured marketable Treasury security from the Monthly Statement of the Public Debt by time to maturity, storing a statement only when the securities add up to Treasury's own class subtotals.

Shares are of the competitive amount accepted; indirect, direct and primary-dealer shares add to 100%. A shaded cell ranks at or below the 10th or at or above the 90th percentile of its own tenor. "not ranked" means fewer than eight prior auctions of that tenor are stored, or a cash management bill. Click a security to chart its tenor. Flags: Bid-to-cover in the lowest tenth of prior same-tenor auctions (5 years); Primary-dealer share in the highest tenth of prior same-tenor auctions (5 years).
Marketable Treasury debt by time to maturity
MSPD 2026-09-30; 463 securities; $31.83T unmaturedMaturing within twelve months of 2026-09-30: $10.64T (33.4%). That share sits at the 85th percentile of the 120 prior stored statements (2016-09-01..2026-09-30 (prior statements only)), range 25.4% to 37.0%. Outstanding-weighted average time to maturity: 5.81 years (a Kresmion calculation over every unmatured marketable security, not Treasury's published average maturity). Treasury's Total Marketable line, $31.83T, also counts matured debt not yet redeemed and the Federal Financing Bank line; neither is a maturity and both are left out of the ladder. TIPS amounts include the inflation adjustment, as Treasury publishes them.

Method and limits
- Source: U.S. Department of the Treasury. Auction results come from the Treasury Securities Auctions Data through the Fiscal Data API; an auction that dataset has not completed yet is filled from TreasuryDirect's own published results, field for field. The maturity ladder comes from the Monthly Statement of the Public Debt through the Fiscal Data API. Public domain; numbers as published.
- High rate: bills report the high discount rate, notes, bonds and TIPS the high yield, floating rate notes the high discount margin. High minus median is the stop-out rate less the median accepted rate, in basis points.
- The tail against the when-issued yield is not shown: when-issued quotes come from the dealer market and are not part of Treasury's published results.
- Each percentile ranks an auction against the earlier auctions of the same tenor in the five years before it, so a later auction never changes an earlier rank. Reopenings rank with their original tenor; bills rank by their own term.
- A flag describes one auction against its own history. It is not a forecast and says nothing about the next auction.
- The maturity ladder buckets every unmatured marketable security by the time from the statement date to its maturity. A statement is stored only when the per-security amounts add up to Treasury's own subtotal for each class.
